I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving day. This year, my family did something a little different. Our family has gotten so big, what with 4 generations represented now, that it's hard to get everyone together in one place. So we decided to have the meal at my church's fellowship hall. My dad and his brothers and sisters all grew up there, just like I did, so it was nostalgic for them as well. My cousin from near Baton Rouge(thats him on the right of the picture, standing right next to the column, wearing glasses) had made a dvd from all the pictures that everyone sent him before our reunion back in October. He brought copies for all of us to take home. What a treasure chest filled with memories it contains. Thanks Mike! Here is a picture of the group of us standing on the steps of the church.

milestone
Well what do you know, I've reached the 100-post mark on this blog thing. Maybe I'm beginning to get the hang of it after all, huh?
from my blog to yours
Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll! I hope everyone has a wonderful day with lots of friends and family. I am so blessed to have a close relationship with a large extended family. And boy howdy can they cook up some stuff..Oh well, as usual I will put off dieting until after the holidays.
Psa 100:1 A psalm of thanksgiving. Shout triumphantly to the LORD, all the earth.
Psa 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.
Psa 100:3 Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we are His--His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Psa 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
Psa 100:5 For the LORD is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations.

You know what makes me sick?
So many places now, when they list their telephone number for folks to call, they will give out 1 + the area code, then try to be clever and spell out the remaining digits alphabetically. That aggravates the crap out of me. Why can't they just give us the stupid numbers? Sometimes when they spell it out, you have too many numbers. Like 1-800- GIVE-ME-A-BREAK already. Sheeeeshh..
Veteran's Day
My thanks go out to all who have ever worn the uniform of our Armed Forces. Also to the ones who are presently serving in many areas of the world. It's true enough, our world is a scary enough place as it is. Just imagine how worse things would be if our brave soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen hadn't went and did all that they did. So, if you see a veteran today, tell them thanks. Its the very least we can do. God bless them all..

new music

I just got the new 2-disc cd of the Eagles, Long Road out of Eden. It's very good, and they haven't lost anything, in spite of not having any new material for a number of years. The sound of this project, sort of reminds me of the early to mid 70's songs, such as Lying Eyes, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Take It Easy, etc. And an added bonus, it is only available at WalMart, so the price isn't terribly steep. $12 for the cd, and $10 for the full download on walmart.com. Give it a listen if you are, or were, an Eagles fan. You won't be disappointed!

Vote
Today was election day here in Mississippi. All of our statewide offices and many local positions are up for grabs. I hope that everyone takes advantage of this awesome privilege and responsibility that we have to choose who governs us. This has always been a very important thing in my family. For as long as I can remember, my parents and grandparents, aunts & uncles, all made it their mission to teach us the importance of casting our votes for the candidates of our choice. I believe it is something that should be prayed about before going to the polls. Given the condition of our society these days, we certainly need to seek God's wisdom concerning who to place into office. Not only this election today, but next years Presidential election. We certainly need to devote much prayer time to it in particular, for it will affect the course of the entire nation for the next several years. Listen to what the candidates have to say, then pray about it and seek direction from God as we make our decisions.

Dumb Crook News
HEY -- WHAT IS THIS CRAP? OH...IT'S CRAP!
Three teenagers who grabbed a package from a woman's car in Des Moines, Iowa recently were in for an unpleasant surprise: the package contained droppings from the woman's dog. The victim said she had been walking her Cairn terrier "Tippy" and had used the bag to pick up after him. She said when she finished, she wrapped the 4-by-5-inch package and set it down on her car trunk. That's when the three teenagers rushed by. One grabbed the bundle and yelled "Thank you." The victim said she looked up, saw the trio racing away, and replied, "You're welcome." She told police,"I just wish I could have seen their faces when they opened it up."
UM...COULD YOU FOLKS EXCUSE ME JUST A MOMENT?
A Columbus, Ohio police officer who was instructing bank employees on what to do during a robbery was interrupted by...a bank robbery. The suspect entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash. He had somehow missed the uniformed police officer standing at a nearby teller window. The officer interrupted his class and tackled the robber after a short foot chase. The suspect has been linked to 43 other robberies.

It ain't what you know
Act 4:8 Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders:
Act 4:9 If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man--by what means he was healed--
Act 4:10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene--whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead--by Him this man is standing here before you healthy.
Act 4:11 This Jesus is The stone despised by you builders, who has become the cornerstone.
Act 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved."
Act 4:13 When they observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and knew that they had been with Jesus.
Can people say that about us? That because of our conversation, and way of life, that they can tell we've been with Jesus?
