prayer is the thing

What an awesome day at church today! Another lost sheep came home:) Many prayers had gone up for a friend of mine who was a lost church member. I say, WAS..but now she is found..Praise God from whom all blessings flow...

Psalm 122

Psa 122:1 A Song of Ascents, of David. I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."
Psa 122:2 Our feet are standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem,
Psa 122:3 Jerusalem, that is built As a city that is compact together;
Psa 122:4 To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the LORD-- An ordinance for Israel-- To give thanks to the name of the LORD.
Psa 122:5 For there thrones were set for judgment, The thrones of the house of David.
Psa 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.
Psa 122:7 "May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces."
Psa 122:8 For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, "May peace be within you."
Psa 122:9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.

blogging and stuff

I had to delete a post I had put on here a couple of days ago, because I found that by mentioning the name of a certain celebrity, apparently Google thinks that means I was endorsing their lifestyle. An ad appeared on my blog which I did not request. So its just like in the real world, I guess..we have to guard what we say, lest people draw the wrong conclusions from our words. Lesson learned!

good source for Christian news

I found a couple of sites the other day that I found useful. They have articles and news stories from a Christian perspective. So check them out and see what you think.

back to the grindhouse

Well my four day weekend was fun while it lasted. Amazing how quickly it evaporated:| But can't really complain, it's good to have a career. Why is it though, that people can work together for more than 10 years, night after night, yet can't seem to get along. I have noticed ( of a couple of coworkers in particular) that it comes and goes. For a while, they'll be best of friends, then next thing you know---whammo- what we are dealing with here, is a failure to communicate..Go figure!

On a more positive note, we had a tremendous success with our fundraiser yesterday for the church youth group. Over 600 plates sold, so we should have netted between 2 -3 thousand $, which will go a long way to getting us to our goal. I could only stay and help for an hour or so, but it was pretty busy while I was there. But then the traffic began to slow down--I guess most folks in town go to lunch between 11 and 12. Which worked out good for me, after it calmed down a bit. I came back home and caught a snooze before getting ready for work last night. The fish was delicious , by the way. I hope everyone enjoyed theirs as much as I did. Next event will be spaghetti cookoff, then after that a car wash. That should just about put us over the top.

Well its getting close to my bedtime, so I'll check in later. I have been reading from the Psalms lately, so I thought I'd post one here for today's verse. Enjoy:)
Psa 20:1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high!
Psa 20:2 May He send you help from the sanctuary And support you from Zion!
Psa 20:3 May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable! Selah.
Psa 20:4 May He grant you your heart's desire And fulfill all your counsel!
Psa 20:5 We will sing for joy over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.
Psa 20:6 Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.
Psa 20:7 Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God.
Psa 20:8 They have bowed down and fallen, But we have risen and stood upright.
Psa 20:9 Save, O LORD; May the King answer us in the day we call.

great weekend

I was fortunate to have an extra night off this weekend ( had a deferred holiday to use before May 12) so that is always a blessing. Not that I really accomplished that much with the extra time off, other than taking all 3 dogs to the clinic as I wrote in a previous posting. But still, it was good to have an extra night to be a slug.
We had a good service at church Sunday morning. Love and forgiveness-- two integral components of having a real, personal relationship with Jesus. We can't have one without the other. A member of my church family who had fallen out of fellowship, came forward and asked for forgiveness. Its amazing how the Holy Spirit works, because that was the theme of both our Sunday school lesson, and our pastor's sermon. Many prayers had gone up regarding this man and his family, that they be restored to us, and our prayers were answered. Our God is an awesome God!
Our fund-raising efforts for the summer youth trip are going great. We have been selling fish plate tickets for a month or so. I figured we'd probably sell 200 or so. Well, are you ready for this..we have sold over 600, so this should go a long way towards paying our way. Thanks to everyone who sold tickets, made donations, and prayed for our efforts to be blessed. They certainly were. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the big day, there will be lots of cooking and delivering of plates. My stomach is growling already, because there ain't much better than good ole southern fried catfish and hushpuppies. Hurray!

oh one last thing, I owe a friend of mine a plug for mentioning my blog, so if you are looking for new bloggage( is that a real word, or did I just make it up?) check hers out

a member of my family

This is Miss Scarlett O'Hairy, my gorgeous golden retriever

trip to the vet

I had last night off from work, so I took the opportunity this morning to take all 3 of my dogs to the clinic for their annual booster shots. 1 chocolate lab- weight 50lbs, 1 yellow lab- weight 90 lbs, 1 golden retriever- weight 80 lbs. You cannot imagine the logistics involved in handling all 3 of these at one trip. Good thing I got to bed early- well relatively early, 2 a.m. Since I work third shift, my normal bedtime is around 7 a.m. Anyway, they all have a clean bill of health now, and a new 6 month supply of Heartgard. One thing for sure, God has used them to teach me how to be more patient. I hope everyone who may stop by for a visit at the front porch , has a blessed and wonderful weekend. Enjoy the beautiful weather, and God bless!

first posting

Well here goes, my first attempt at this blogging thing. Hopefully I'll have something worth reading, or at least entertaining, or just thought-provoking to add in the days to come. So stay tuned, like the saying goes, its a work in progress!
